Rkatsiteli is the tough workhorse grape variety of Georgia and widely held to be the grape variety first planted by Noah after the flood. Seeds have been found at the bottom of clay vessels dated to 3,000BC. To this day, wines are fermented with their skins on in qvevri and the high acid and deeply ripened flavours of Rkatsiteli complement this method nicely. It’s produced from ancient vines and ancestral traditions. Fermentation lasts 4-5 months without intervention. A dark beige golden colour ensues with honey, flower petals and roasted walnuts on the palate with fullness and elegant attitude.
