Smith & Gertrude

Golden Hare x Smith & Gertrude Wine & Cheese Book Club - Wednesday 29th May 2024 @ 7.30pm

£29.00 Regular price

Once again, we're collaborating with one of our favourite independent bookshops Golden Hare Books to bring you a series of brilliant reads, beautiful wines and seasonal cheese.
For May we have selected Cursed Bread by Sophie Mackintosh:

Spring, 1951. Four people meet in a small French town: the baker and his wife; the ambassador and his wife. Two belong to the town, two are outsiders. Some time later, strange things start happening. Horses drop dead in the fields. Children grow wild and unbiddable. Ghosts are sighted after dark. Someone is playing a dangerous game of cat and mouse, but who is the predator and who their prey? Audacious and mesmerising, Cursed Bread is a darkly erotic mystery about a town gripped by madness, envy like poison in the blood, and desire that burns and consumes.

The cost of your ticket includes the following:

  • A copy of that months quite brilliant book club book (available to be collected from Golden Hare Books as soon as you have booked)
  • A glass of wine on arrival to help get the conversation started
  • Cheese. Lots of cheese to keep the discussion flowing

Please note:

- the book club takes place in our wine cellar to which there is only step access. Sincere apologies for any access issues this causes.
