Originally published in 1960, The Bachelors follows a group of single men in London whose cosy, complacent, and arguably misogynistic, world is shattered when they become the target of blackmail and fraud. A biting satire, considered by Evelyn Waugh to be 'the cleverest and most elegant' of Spark's novels, and an excellent example of her dark wit.
