This tasting is in Stockbridge
Following hot on the heels of our most successful wine tasting to date, we have another absolute beaut of an event in the offing with Vanya Cullen, winemaker at Cullen Wines heading to the bar for an evening of benchmark Aussie wines.
Join us on Monday 12th June & prepare to have your mind blown. Gently. Biodynamics is common parlance in the wine world these days but that has not always been the case. Vanya & the team at Cullen Wines were at the vanguard of the move to sustainability & the renewed focus on treating the vineyard as a living system & they were the folk who first engaged Amy and I in the subject on an emotional rather than simply practical level. So if you're a fully fledged 'only drink bio' wine kind of person you're going to find a lot to love at this tasting. If you're not - even better as this is the perfect opportunity to chat in an informal setting with one of the leading proponents of the art.
All of that said, first & foremost the 12th is about drinking some truly exceptional & dare we say it unique Aussie wines. These are not the huge, fruit bombs that you may have grown up with in the 90's & early 00's. These are wines of nuance & restraint. Wines which have for decades been showing to the world the quality & potential of teh Margaret River region. We will be tasting a selection ranging from Sauvignon / Semillon (a staple on the S&G wine list from day dot) through to the iconic Diana Madeline via some Malbec & Petit Verdot.
All of this will be expertly hosted by Vanya Cullen who has been winemaking at her family’s Wilyabrup estate since 1983. She was appointed to Chief Winemaker in 1989 - so there isn't a lot she doesn't know about the region or indeed the winemaking landscape of Australia in general.
There will be cheese, there will be expert chat & most importantly of all there will be delicious wine. It promises to be a fantastic evening.
The tasting will be held upstairs in our main bar in Stockbridge and will begin at 7pm and last for around 2 - 3 hours.
Tickets are £52.50 per person and limited to 30 people.
All wines will be available to order on the night.
